Program Specialist, Alternative Education English Learner Services

Join the Orange County Department of Education and help strengthen educational opportunities for K–12 English Learners in Alternative Education. As the Program Specialist, Alternative Education English Learner Services, you will develop high-quality English Language Development (ELD) resources, provide professional learning and in-service training for educators, support and guide tutoring staff, foster meaningful family engagement, and help ensure compliance with state and federal English Learner requirements.

Working collaboratively with educators, administrators, and community partners, you will provide expertise on California ELD standards and effective instructional practices while supporting the continuous improvement of English Learner services across Alternative Education programs. If you are passionate about supporting educators, enhancing instructional practices, and improving outcomes for English Learners, we encourage you to apply. Some assignments require background clearance conducted by the probation department.

/ Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field and Three (3) years of education experience working with English learners Licenses;
Certificates;
Special Requirements: A valid California credential authorizing service in a public school program; possession of California EL authorization.
