The Instructor is, first and foremost, someone who loves working with kids. You'll get to know each student individually. Encouraging, motivating, and adapting your teaching style to fit their personality and pace while guiding them through our project-based Belt System curriculum in coding, robotics, and technology. Technical background is a real plus, but what matters most is your ability to create a classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and excited to come back next week.
Key Responsibilities- Create a fun, encouraging, and engaging classroom experience for every student
- Get to know each student individually and adapt your approach to their personality, pace, and learning style
- Manage an orderly, positive classroom at all times
- Teach class material according to iCode's provided curriculum and guidelines
- Provide weekly updates to parents on their student's progress
- Assess, record, and report on student development, progress, and behavior
- Treat all students equally and fairly
- Maintain a professional, dependable presence at all times
What matters most:
- Genuine enthusiasm for working with kids (experience with children ages 5–18 preferred — teaching, coaching, camp counseling, tutoring, childcare, mentoring, etc.)
- Positive, outgoing personality with excellent people skills
- Patient, encouraging, and adaptable communication style
- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working evenings and/or weekends
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable managing a classroom and holding kids' attention
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Any experience with coding, robotics, or technology is a bonus
- HTML, JavaScript, Python, UE5, Unity, Blender, Game Maker, VEX, or similar
- Comfortable learning and teaching new software/tools with training
- General comfort with Windows computers
- High school diploma or GED required
- College students (any year, any major) welcome to apply
- Current high school students may apply if they hold an active leadership role in a STEAM club and have a strong interest in working with younger kids
- Graduates of the iCode program are encouraged to apply
- Follow the responsibilities outlined above
- Stay on the schedule provided by the Campus Director
- Employee's time is fully committed to iCode while on the clock (no personal social media use during work hours)
- Complete tasks within timelines and quality expectations set by your manager
- Bring creative solutions to classroom challenges as they come up
- Clock in and out for every shift
- Wear proper work attire
- Be a team player with strong customer service instincts
