We are looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the Senior Mechanical Engineer Team Lead within the Displays division. In this supporting role, the Mechanical Engineer will help interpret requirements and perform detailed design activities related to avionics and defense display assemblies. Responsibilities include assisting in the review of customer needs and helping translate them into detailed product requirements.
The role supports defining product structures, contributing to engineering analyses and calculations, participating in material selection activities, and assisting in the development of manufacturing strategies and configuration management.
The Mechanical Engineer will also contribute to 3D modeling tasks using Solid Works and the detailed dimensioning of product components. Additional responsibilities include supporting engineering logistics such as documentation, participation in design reviews, and preparation and processing of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). The individual will collaborate on complex opto‑electronic mechanical assemblies and is expected to apply foundational knowledge of LCD display technologies and related disciplines.
Working closely with the Senior Mechanical Engineer Team Lead and a multidisciplinary team—including sales, program/product management, engineering, quality, and manufacturing—the Mechanical Engineer ensures that product requirements are fully met. Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
Job Duties- Design electro‑mechanical assemblies including mechanical assemblies, optical components, and packaging of various electro‑mechanical components including circuit boards
- Create 3D Solid Works part and assembly models
- Review and select materials based on established requirements
- Perform tolerance analysis, mechanical stress calculation, thermal management analysis and perform various engineering tests as required
- Support environmental qualification activities including vibration, shock, thermal cycling, sealing, and mechanical compliance requirements
- Work from rough sketches, schematics, verbal, and written instructions to create simple to complex engineering drawings
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings
- Assign part numbers for drawings, BOMs, and documents
- Generate and process Bill of Materials (BOMs)
- Prepare, incorporate, and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Monitor new materials and technologies in order to continuously improve product performance
- Support manufacturing by addressing technical design issues on the production floor
- Respond to corrective actions and non‑conformance reports
- Provide assistance and follow‑up with suppliers
- Responsible for organizing and communicating their work and results in both formal and informal settings
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 2 years minimum of relevant experience
- Solid Works experience in design and drafting of electro‑mechanical assemblies
- Proven understanding of various manufacturing capabilities, machining, casting, molding, finishing, circuit card assemblies
- Occasional travel may be required
- On‑site presence required to support hardware integration, lab validation, and production activities
- Assets:
- Familiar with Avionics & Military related specifications/standards
- Experience in Display product and LCD design notions (optics)
- Experience working within AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems
