Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center.
As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting‑edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
At Anduril, our Structures Engineers are at the forefront of defense technology, crafting high-impact, cutting-edge robust structural solutions that redefine innovation. You'll dive into a diverse range of projects, partnering with brilliant minds across disciplines to engineer resilient load‑bearing components and integrated mechanical architectures that empower our mission‑critical operations. We’re seeking talented Mechanical Engineers with specialized expertise in structural design, analysis, and materials science to contribute to projects that are shaping the future of defense.
WHATYOU’LL DO
- Design & Architect Robust Structures: Lead the conceptualization, design, and detailed engineering of complex primary & secondary structures and components using CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, CATIA, NX), ensuring performance in demanding operational environments.
- Conduct Advanced Structural Analysis: Perform comprehensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for static, dynamic, thermal, fatigue, and vibration loads, validating design integrity and predicting performance under extreme conditions.
- Specify Materials & Manufacturing Processes: Select and qualify appropriate materials (metals, composites, plastics) and manufacturing processes (machining, additive manufacturing, molding, welding) to meet structural requirements, cost targets, and production scalability.
- Prototype & Validate Physical Systems: Support the fabrication and assembly of prototypes, design and execute rigorous structural qualification tests (e.g., shock, vibration, environmental), and meticulously analyze test data to inform design refinements.
- Collaborate for Integrated Solutions: Partner closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, and Manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical structures with electronics and other subsystems, optimizing for performance, manufacturability (DFM/DFA), and reliability.
- Educational Foundation &
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, coupled with 3+ years of direct experience in structural design and analysis for complex mechanical systems. - Expertise in Structural Analysis (FEA): Proven proficiency in performing advanced FEA (static, dynamic, thermal, fatigue, vibration) using industry-standard software (e.g., ANSYS, Nastran, Abaqus) and interpreting results to drive design decisions.
- CAD Proficiency & Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T): Hands‑on experience with professional CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, CATIA, NX) for detailed part and assembly design, along with a strong understanding and application of GD&T principles.
- Materials Science & Manufacturing Knowledge: Solid understanding of mechanical properties of various engineering materials (metals, composites) and their behavior under different loads, coupled with practical knowledge of common manufacturing processes.
- Testing & Validation
Experience:
Demonstrated ability to design, set up, and execute structural verification and validation tests, including environmental testing, and analyze results to ensure compliance with stringent requirements. - Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
