Anduril's Manufacturing Automation team is seeking a Senior Machine Vision Engineer to join our team. The Manufacturing Automation team is responsible for the design, integration, and deployment of automated manufacturing systems across Anduril factories. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to help define what production automation looks like for Anduril at a national scale.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- System Development:
Design and implement machine vision systems for industrial automation, quality inspection, defect detection, and process monitoring - Hardware Procurement:
Specify, procure, validate, and sustain core vision components including cameras, lenses, lighting, controllers, and software - Deployment & Commissioning:
Oversee the installation, validation, and commissioning of vision systems across multiple production lines - Project Leadership:
Lead technical projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally to integrate high-precision inspection systems - Root Cause Analysis:
Drive Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations for vision system errors and process failures - Training & Support:
Mentor junior engineers and train production staff in daily operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of vision equipment to elevate team technical capabilities
- Education:
Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Robotics, or a related discipline. - Experience:
5+ years of hands-on industry experience building, deploying, and maintaining machine vision systems in a manufacturing environment. - Vision Platforms:
Direct experience with industrial hardware ecosystems like Cognex, Keyence, Basler, or Sick. - Libraries & Frameworks:
Proficiency with core vision and deep learning software including OpenCV, Halcon, PyTorch, or Tensor Flow. - Programming:
Strong coding skills in Python, C#, or C++. - Optics & Physics:
Deep understanding of camera selection, lens optics, resolution, lighting techniques, and sensor calibration. - Automation Integration:
Direct experience interfacing vision systems with industrial controls like PLCs and robotics. - Inspection Methods:
Mastery of classical rules-based tools, advanced defect detection, AI-based vision, and SPC methodologies.
- Smart Manufacturing:
Experience with Industry 4.0 standards, factory automation software, and IIoT protocols such as IO-Link, MQTT or OPC UA. - Software Practices:
Familiarity with modern development workflows, including Git version control and CI/CD pipelines. - 3D Vision:
Experience with 3D imaging techniques like structured light, time-of-flight (ToF), or stereo vision for robotic guidance and inspection. - Security Clearance:
Possession of an active Secret or Top-Secret security clearance.
$146,000 - $194,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
