ResponsibilitiesThe Expense Compliance Analyst is responsible for reviewing and auditing employee expense reports submitted through Concur to ensure full adherence to company travel & expense policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. Reporting to the HR organization, this role plays a critical part in safeguarding company resources, promoting policy compliance, and supporting employees through clear, consistent guidance.
- Review and audit all employee expense reports submitted in Concur for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company T&E policies.
- Identify policy violations, missing documentation, duplicate submissions, or unusual or unauthorized spending patterns.
- Communicate directly with employees and managers to resolve discrepancies, request clarifications, or obtain required receipts.
- Apply consistent judgment when approving, rejecting, or escalating expense items and elevate repeated or significant violations vs. T&E policies to management.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of corporate travel, purchasing, and reimbursement policies, as well as changes in applicable regulations.
- Partner with Finance, local HR and Procurement to recommend improvements to policy language, workflows, and system controls.
- Support employee training and awareness initiatives related to expense compliance.
- Support month end close activities by ensuring timely review and approval of expense reports.
- Prepare periodic reporting on compliance trends, repeat violations, and opportunities for training or process improvement.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests related to T&E transactions.
- Proficient Microsoft Office (including Excel & Word) and Windows operating system.
- A candidate must possess excellent analytical skills, as well as, organizational and communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and assignments with attention to detail.
- Problem solving, well organized, detailed oriented and accurate.
- Demonstrated experience in data reporting and identifying trends.
- Ability to participate in and support compliance and policy training initiatives.
- Experience with Concur or other expense report management.
- Experience in a corporate shared services or centralized HR environment.
- Understanding of internal audit frameworks.
- Process improvement mindset with interest in optimizing workflows and system rules.
- Experience in international corporate environments.
