Description

Position Summary

The Human Resources Business Partner supports a fast-growing, multi-site healthcare organization by partnering with leaders and center managers on employee relations, performance management, compliance, and leadership effectiveness. This role requires strong working knowledge of California employment law, sound business judgment, and the ability to execute HR work end-to-end.

The HRBP also contributes to the design and deployment of learning and development initiatives that build frontline leadership capability and support consistent people practices across centers. This is a hands-on role that balances strategic partnership with day-to-day execution and operational support.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday. Hybrid schedule with 2-3 onsite days weekly at Costa Mesa Corporate Office.

Compensation: Starting compensation range is $80,000.00-$ annually. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

Responsibilities

HR Business Partnership & Employee Relations
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and center managers on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, investigations, and terminations.
  • Apply strong working knowledge of California employment laws (wage & hour, meal/rest periods, leaves of absence, accommodations, FLSA, FEHA, CFRA/FMLA) to balance legal risk with business needs.
  • Coach leaders on handling sensitive employee issues with consistency, empathy, and sound judgment.
  • Support workforce planning, organizational changes, and people-related risk mitigation in a high-growth healthcare environment.
Learning & Development (Hands-On)
  • Partner with HR leadership to design, deploy, and continuously improve practical L&D programs (e.g., frontline leadership training, manager fundamentals, performance management, compliance training).
  • Facilitate and/or coordinate training sessions (virtual and in-person) for center managers and corporate leaders.
  • Translate operational and people-related challenges into learning solutions that are simple, scalable, and measurable.
  • Support onboarding and manager enablement programs to ensure consistency across centers.
Shared Services, Compliance & Employee Support
  • Assist with shared services functions as needed, including auditing HR processes, employee files, timekeeping practices, leave documentation, and compliance workflows.
  • Partner with HR leadership to identify gaps, risks, and inconsistencies across centers and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support internal audits related to wage & hour compliance, policies, training completion, and documentation standards.
  • Ensure HR data accuracy within HRIS and related systems; flag discrepancies and drive resolution.
Operations & Execution
  • Ensure HR policies, practices, and documentation are compliant, accurate, and consistently applied across centers.
  • Support leave administration, accommodations, workers' compensation coordination, and policy interpretation in partnership with internal teams.
  • Contribute to HR projects such as policy updates, system implementations, engagement initiatives, and process standardization.
  • Maintain thorough, timely, and well-organized documentation to support compliance, audits, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure Workers Compensation claims are managed effectively and timely.
  • Other directives, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive HR experience, with time spent in an HRBP or Senior HR Generalist role.
  • Prior experience in the healthcare industry required (multi-site healthcare strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience handling employee relations, investigations, performance management, and terminations in California.
  • Proven attention to detail with experience supporting audits, compliance reviews, or shared services functions.
  • Exposure to or direct involvement in Learning & Development initiatives (design, facilitation, or deployment).
  • Strong working knowledge of HRIS systems and solid Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to travel to centers as needed.
