Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI‑powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center.
As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting‑edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
The centralized Software Product Design & Research team serves as the connective tissue across Anduril’s ecosystem of software experiences – ensuring that products and workflows scale thoughtfully across platforms, mission types, and domains. You will join the central team as a mission product designer – deployed to support Anduril’s Tactical Reconnaissance & Strike organization alongside another designer focused in this domain.
Together, you will own the design direction for mobile and web experiences that enable tactical operations, working closely with specialized stakeholders including autonomous systems engineers, product managers, and end users in mission‑critical environments. As part of the central team, you’ll maintain full access to the broader design community for critique, collaboration, and knowledge sharing while building deep expertise in a specialized operational domain that has immediate real‑world impact.
YOU’LL DO
- Own mobile‑first product experiences for tactical operations alongside web‑based workflows from discovery to delivery – leveraging established [tactical] mobile conventions as a foundation while identifying opportunities to redefine interaction patterns based on validated user needs.
- Lead discovery and validation through direct engagement with end users in operational contexts and collaborative workshops with stakeholders; synthesize findings into design decisions that demonstrably improve mission‑critical workflows in a fast‑paced environment where speed to deployment is essential.
- Proactively identify design opportunities with minimal direction, defining what needs to be designed and driving work forward autonomously – balancing near‑term delivery needs with system‑level thinking across interconnected workflows.
- Shape how product design integrates with engineering & product management through close collaboration, iterative prototyping, and hands‑on implementation guidance.
- Ensure your work is easy to follow through strong narrative skills, journey maps, user workflows, high fidelity mockups, and detailed documentation rigor.
- Partner with our design systems team to evolve the underlying platform through your work at the edge.
- 5+ years of experience in product design, UX, or HCI, with a proven ability to execute high‑craft, technically informed solutions.
- Proven experience designing mobile‑first product experiences with deep understanding of mobile interface patterns, constraints, and interaction paradigms.
- Self‑directed work style with demonstrated ability to operate autonomously – identifying gaps, defining scope, and driving design forward without constant direction.
- Experience designing for operational or tactical contexts where workflows require precision, speed, and clarity under time‑sensitive conditions.
- Deep expertise in visual and interaction design with ability to craft elegant solutions for complex workflows; portfolio demonstrating high attention to detail.
- Systems thinking mindset, capable of mapping workflows across multiple user types and operational contexts.
- Strong prototyping skills to drive clarity in decision‑making.
- Ability to communicate the "why" behind design decisions; work demonstrating having navigating complex stakeholder requirements across engineering, product, and business teams.
