We're seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our Costa Mesa, CA prototype shop. In this role, you'll take full ownership of complex machining projects—from programming and setup to operation and quality assurance. You'll work on low-volume, high-stakes prototype parts that push the boundaries of what's possible in defense technology. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will directly contribute to Anduril's mission of building next-generation defense systems.
WhatYou'll Do
- Interpret technical blueprints, CAD models, and engineering drawings to plan machining processes
- Program, set up, and operate multi-axis CNC milling and turning machines (including 5-axis equipment)
- Design and implement custom work-holding solutions and fixtures to meet unique project requirements
- Troubleshoot machining issues in real time and make process adjustments to ensure part quality
- Conduct in-process and final quality inspections to verify parts meet stringent specifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience programming CNC machines using CAM software (e.g., Esprit, hyperMill—training available for the right candidate)
- 5+ years of experience in CNC machine setup and operation
- Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming
- Expertise in multi-axis and 3D machining techniques
- Experience operating 5-axis mills, live tooling lathes, mill-turns, or multi-task machines
- Proficiency with Fanuc, Siemens, or Brother CNC controls
- Deep knowledge of machining various materials including alloys, metals, and plastics
- Proven experience designing and implementing tooling and fixturing solutions
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Ability to own the full manufacturing process from blueprint to finished part
- Comfortable working in both R&D prototype and short-run production environments
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- U.S. Person status required (this position involves access to export-controlled data)
- Hands-on experience with Esprit or hyper
Mill CAM software - Proficiency in 5-axis simultaneous programming
- Experience using Siemens NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM
US Hourly Range
$47.60 - $71 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
