CNC Lead – 2nd shift

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, lead, train, assign and coordinate work in CNC Lathe area; demonstrate and explain machining techniques and work procedures; performs other related duties as assigned.

Machine Shop Manager

• Monitors assigned manufacturing operations within CNClathe area;
• Sets up, operate CNClathes and other related equipment;
• Requests purchases of tools and supplies;
• Review employee problems with department supervisor and manager;
• Works closely with CNC Programmer concerning programmed jobs;
• Expedites work as directed;
• Train operators how to operate jib crane and bridge crane to load and unload parts;
• Familiar with hitching and rigging equipment and their use;
• Participates in performance evaluations and reports performance infractions to supervisor and department manager;
• Performs other duties based on production requirements or needs of department management.
• Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
• Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.

Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:

Considerable experience in CNC lathe operation in a machine shop setting; working knowledge ofJib cranes and Bridge type cranes. Working knowledge ofmachine shop operations and manufacturing practices; minimum high school diploma, supplemented by course work or training in leadership fundamentals.

• Able to analyze and solve machining and work process problems;
• Knowledge of CNClathes, equipment set up and operation;
• Able to communicate effectively with employees and supervision both orally and in writing;
• Able to read and interpret instructions, schematics and manufacturing and engineering drawings;
• Able to train, develop and check the work of subordinates; and
• Knowledge of quality control inspection methods and casting layout work.
• Ability to operate jib crane and bridge crane; and
• Knowledge of safe hitching and rigging techniques to manipulate parts.

• Ability to bend, reach, lift, move, and carry tools and materials weighing 25 pounds or less;
• Ability to reach and adjust equipment control settings; and
• Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined;
