Theodore Robbins Ford is a trusted Ford dealership serving the Costa Mesa, CA community. We are looking for a skilled Drivability Technician to join our service team. If you have advanced diagnostic experience and a deep understanding of engine management, fuel, electrical, and emissions systems, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do
  • Diagnose and repair complex drivability concerns related to engine performance, fuel injection, ignition, and emissions systems
  • Use onboard diagnostic systems (OBD), scan tools, multimeters, and other electronic testing equipment to identify malfunctions
  • Interpret diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and develop accurate repair plans
  • Perform repairs and calibrations to Ford factory standards
  • Complete repair orders efficiently and accurately, communicating promptly with the service advisor on scope changes or timing concerns
  • Coordinate with the parts department to source required components
  • Road‑test vehicles before and after repairs to verify performance
  • Document all diagnostic findings and work performed thoroughly on the repair order
  • Stay current on Ford technical service bulletins (TSBs), software updates, and evolving vehicle technology
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to all OSHA and shop safety requirements
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 3 years of automotive diagnostic and drivability repair experience
  • Advanced knowledge of engine management, fuel systems, ignition systems, and emissions controls
  • Proficiency with scan tools, multimeters, and OBD diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and wiring schematics
  • Experience with Ford vehicles strongly preferred
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced dealership environment
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods
