Testing Technician

The Testing Technician performs production-line testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic products, including Newmar and Dura Comm production units. This role installs firmware, conducts detailed bench testing and calibration, and ensures that high-volume production panels and telecom products meet quality and performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing on equipment and assemblies that include analog, digital, video, and logic circuits, components, and instruments.
  • Measure power, signal, and temperature using appropriate test equipment to verify product performance and compliance.
  • Conduct production-line testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic products down to the component level.
  • Install firmware on Dura Comm-branded products and verify proper operation after installation.
  • Review test results with team members and provide clear recommendations on repair, maintenance, and refinement of equipment and processes.
  • Troubleshoot nonconforming products by analyzing circuitry and identifying defective electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, transformers, diodes, and transistors.
  • Operate and interpret results from basic test equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), current clamps, Hi-Pot machines, probes, and other electrical test tools.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics to diagnose issues on circuit boards and complete units.
  • Troubleshoot circuit boards and electrical panels to the component level and perform necessary repairs.
  • Perform soldering and crimping on thru-hole and other components to ensure reliable electrical connections.
  • Support high-volume testing for production electrical panels and telecom products used in network and industrial environments.
  • Perform bench testing and calibration of products to meet specified performance criteria.
  • Work with AC/DC and high-voltage environments while following appropriate safety and testing procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality standards, particularly for a new division of the business.
  • Handle complex technical issues independently and escalate only the most complex problems to higher-level staff.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to other technicians by serving as a technical example and resource on the production floor.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years of experience testing electrical and electronic components in a production or similar environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, transformers, diodes, and transistors.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and apply them to troubleshooting circuit boards and complete units.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot to the component level on circuit boards, electrical panels, and related assemblies.
  • Proficiency using basic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), current clamps, Hi-Pot machines, and probes.
  • Experience with high-volume testing for production panels and electronic products.
  • Soldering and crimping skills for thru-hole and other electronic components.
  • Experience with telecom products, including network and industrial applications.
  • Knowledge of firmware installation processes and verification testing on electronic products.
  • Familiarity with bench testing and calibration of electronic equipment.
  • Comfort working with high voltage and AC/DC electrical systems while following safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform work under minimal supervision and manage tasks independently.
  • Capability to handle complex technical issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electronic testing, troubleshooting, and repair practices.
  • Ability to provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to other technicians by setting a strong technical example.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with electrical panels and production panel testing
  • Exposure to computer networks in the context of telecom and firmware-enabled products.
  • Experience writing or contributing to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
  • Strong communication skills to discuss test results and recommendations with staff.
  • Demonstrated initiative in improving processes and refining equipment performance.

Why Work Here?

Join a growing division where you can shape quality standards, write your own SOPs, and directly influence how products are tested and refined. You will work in an environment that values learning, initiative, and technical excellence, with opportunities to lead, mentor others, and expand your expertise in advanced electronic testing and telecom products.

Work Environment

The role is based in a production and bench-testing environment focused on high-volume testing of electronic products and electrical panels.
