POSITION SUMMARY:

The Multilingual Communications and Engagement Coordinator (Spanish) advances access to information and services for multilingual students and families. This role supports the implementation of the district's Language Access Plan, helps manage translation and interpretation services, supports culturally responsive community engagement efforts, and serves as a key liaison between Spanish-speaking families and schools. The position collaborates across departments to strengthen the enrollment process, crisis communications, and helps families navigate our school system.

This role requires deep cultural competency, strong project management skills, and fluency in Spanish and English.

The Multilingual Communications Specialist (Spanish) ensures that all familiesregardless of language backgroundhave equitable access to information, services, and meaningful participation in their child's education. This position plays a critical role in strengthening trust, increasing engagement, and advancing the district's commitment to inclusive excellence.

PRIMARY

JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Support management of the district's Language Access Plan in alignment with state requirements.

* Develop and maintain protocols for translation and interpretation services across schools and departments.

* Train district staff on language access procedures and best practices.

* Monitor quality assurance standards for translated materials and interpretation services.

* Coordinate translation of district communications, enrollment materials, handbooks, and crisis communications.

* Provide bilingual copy editing to ensure translations are culturally and linguistically accurate.

* Help manage contracts and relationships with external translation and interpretation vendors.

* Support and strengthen Parent Advisory Committees

* Develop culturally-responsive communication strategies to increase participation and trust.

* Collaborate with Communications to ensure crisis messaging is culturally responsive and accessible.

* Maintain multilingual emergency communication templates.

* Partner with Student Information to provide language-accessible enrollment processes.

* Assist families in navigating registration, school choice, transportation and program options.

* Develop multilingual enrollment materials and step-by-step guides.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

Required:

* Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Education, Cultural Studies, or related field;

* Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).

* Experience coordinating translations, community engagement strategies and school communications.

* Strong project management and organizational skills.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to work effectively across cultures and diverse communities.

* Ability to travel between school sites.

* Occasional evening or weekend work for community meetings or event

* Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.

Desired:

* Experience in a K12 school district or public agency.

* Strong attention to linguistic nuance and accuracy.

* Experience facilitating advisory groups or community forums.

* Familiarity with enrollment systems.

* Knowledge of crisis communications protocols.

* Community engagement and outreach experience.
