As a Mechanical Automation Engineer for SPI Automation, you’ll be a part of a dynamic team of engineers and technicians responsible for the design and build of custom automation systems. You will work closely with controls engineers, assembly technicians, and machinists to provide a full solution for leading industrial manufacturing clients. Your goal will be to solve problems and execute projects that are On Time, On Budget, and On Spec.

Not everyone can be a Mechanical Automation Engineer. To be seriously considered for the role, please have the following:
- Experience:
At least 3-4 years’ experience in a similar role with comparable goals and responsibilities. Proven track record of successful machine design and automated machine projects. - Preferred Education:
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. - Skills:
You must be an excellent designer in Solid Works with PDM experience. Microsoft Office proficiency. - Knowledge:
Understanding of Electro/Mechanical machine functions (motors, gearboxes, sensors, safety devices, servo motors, conveyors, robots, etc.). - Communication:
You must be able to take the lead in communicating with customers, suppliers, and controls engineers to ensure design intent is clearly understood. - Characteristics:
This is an autonomous position, so you should be a self-starter and self-motivated. Great fit candidates can be described as observant, practical, resourceful, and committed!
As SPI Automation’s Mechanical Automation Engineer, you’ll meet the role’s strategic intent by experimenting, learning, and adjusting as you go. Throughout your journey to help SPI Automation grow its customer base, you’ll be responsible for:
- Project:
Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new manufacturing operations. - Technical:
Create Solid Works models and technical drawings, plans, and specifications. - Collaborate:
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team including other engineers, machinists, and assembly technicians. - Track:
Keep detailed documentation to track project development and design process. - Results:
Ensure project is On Time, On Budget, and On Spec.
