As the Director of Engineering, you will lead and oversee the Engineering department of Breeze’s Technical Operations team, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and innovation in maintenance and engineering. This role is integral to maintaining the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our fleet. You will guide teams in areas such as avionics, structures, systems, fleet reliability, maintenance programs, interiors, configuration control, and power plant engineering while furthering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

what you’ll do
  • Provide strategic direction for the Engineering department, ensuring alignment with FAA Part 121 regulations and company objectives
  • Oversee the management of avionics, structures, systems, fleet reliability, interiors, power plant engineering, maintenance programs, and configuration control functions
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Flight Operations teams to maintain fleet airworthiness and operational integrity
  • Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance programs to ensure they meet safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness standards
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies regarding engineering and maintenance program compliance
  • Evaluate and improve cabin and interior systems to maintain a superior guest experience
  • Achieve performance goals/metrics and adhere to established standards in conjunction with Breeze Aviation Group Values of Safety, Kindness, Integrity, Ingenuity, and Excellence
  • Manage engineering projects end‑to‑end, including planning, resource allocation, timelines, and deliverables
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, design improvements, and operational efficiency
  • Develop and manage engineering budgets, including staffing, tooling, testing, and project costs
  • Hire, train, and develop engineering staff; set performance expectations and conduct evaluations
  • Create functional strategies, objectives, and long‑term engineering roadmaps aligned with organizational goals
  • Present engineering data, project updates, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and/or equivalent working experience
  • 20+ years of experience in aircraft engineering
  • 15+ years of leadership experience in aircraft engineering
  • Expert knowledge of FAA Part 121 regulations, airworthiness directives, and technical reporting for modifications and repairs
  • Proven experience overseeing engineering disciplines such as avionics, systems, power plant, interiors, and maintenance programs
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other technical software tools
  • Experience with fleet management systems, reliability analysis, and data analytics
  • Background in cost-saving and efficiency initiatives within an airline environment
  • Resource planning experience and building KPI’s & Metrics for the team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience with Trax (M&E) control systems
  • Airline leadership experience leading teams in cross functional projects
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License with no history of infractions
  • Familiarity with Airbus A220 and Embraer 190/195 aircraft systems and operations
