Position: Environmental Products - Origination Analyst (5179)

Overview

Description General Summary: As an Origination Analyst on our Environmental Products team, your core focus will be to contribute to our growing portfolio of forestry-based carbon projects. You will enjoy significant responsibility for the management of your own projects within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Primary Responsibilities and Competencies
  • Prepare written carbon project feasibility analysis documents for landowners
  • Perform statistical analyses of forest inventories and other data sets
  • Analyze remote sensing databases to produce accurate estimates of carbon sequestration and emissions reductions
  • Conduct silvicultural research across project regions
  • Manage geospatial data and produce maps using ArcGIS or other geospatial software
  • Analyze financial costs and benefits of carbon project development
  • Review easements/harvest prohibitions and conduct project eligibility due diligence
  • Articulate carbon analysis processes for landowners
  • Travel is less than 10%
Required Education, Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry or another applicable discipline
  • 1 or more years of professional experience in forestry or forest carbon-related field
  • Experience implementing afforestation/reforestation activities
  • Experience working with a variety of forms of timber data
  • Knowledge of a variety of North American forest types
  • Experience in ArcGIS mapping and analysis
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, knowledge of database management a plus
  • Experience cleaning and troubleshooting data
  • Experience in statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of forest carbon policy, carbon protocols (compliance and voluntary), and carbon accounting standards
  • Experience and comfort managing client and third-party relationships.
Preferred Education, Qualifications & Experience
  • Master’s degree in forestry or another applicable discipline
  • 2 or more years of professional experience in forestry or forest carbon-related field
  • Knowledge of database management (MS Access preferred)
  • Knowledge of R Statistical Software
