Overview
WSP USA Inc. is seeking 10-15 Archaeological Field Technicians for multiple projects in Nevada, Oregon, and Utah. These are on-call hourly positions on a project basis, with immediate work. Pay is based on education and experience. Single-occupancy hotel rooms and per diem are provided. Candidates must be able to perform Class III archaeological survey work in the Western U.S., often in remote locations.
Additional tasks may arise.
- Provide technical support for locating, testing, recording, mapping, and evaluating archaeological sites.
- Perform pedestrian and shovel-test surveys.
- Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, ESRI Arc Field Maps GPS data collection software.
- Work long hours in difficult or remote environments, often varying weather conditions.
- Collaborate with team members, maintain a positive attitude, accept direction, and work independently.
- Plan and execute personal assignments with minimal instruction.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of archaeological field experience.
- Previous CRM field experience or academic archaeological field school.
- Knowledge of equipment, technology, and paperwork used in recording and documenting archaeological sites and artifacts.
- Ability to learn local cultural history and material culture in project areas.
- Ability to work independently and fully plan and execute personal assignments with minimal instruction.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work long hours in harsh environments and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to communicate respectfully with team members.
- Must pass a drug test and maintain a drug-free work environment.
- Must pass background check and WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related discipline.
- Experience in utility transmission, pipeline, and petrochemical exploration projects.
- Experience with both block and linear surveys.
- CPR/First Aid certification and experience.
- Archaeological monitoring experience.

CompensationExpected salary: $21.00-$36.00 per hour. WSP reserves the right to pay more or less based on education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
