About

The Role

By joining our Environmental Water Quality team, you will help assess and explain complex water quality systems and support clients in making evidence-led decisions. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Managing, analysing and visualising environmental water quality data to identify trends, pressures and potential impacts.
  • Supporting fieldwork, monitoring activities and the collection of environmental data, where required.
  • Carrying out numerical analysis and modelling to help conceptualise and describe water quality systems and processes.
  • Applying a source-pathway-receptor approach to understand pressures and impacts on the water environment.
  • Preparing presentations, technical reports and clear outputs that communicate evidence, findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across water quality, modelling, catchment management, nature-based solutions and wider environmental services.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. This role will actively support progression with CIWEM, alongside technical training in water quality assessment and modelling.

Your Impact

This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting work that improves understanding of river and coastal water quality, informs sustainable investment decisions and helps reduce pressures on sensitive habitats. Your work will contribute to cleaner, healthier water environments through robust data analysis, monitoring, modelling and evidence-led assessment.

We are looking for candidates with a degree in science, maths, engineering or a closely related numerate discipline. Experience in data management, data analysis and using evidence to inform decisions would be beneficial, along with an interest in emerging pressures on the quality of our rivers and seas and how these can be mitigated.

About you

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Maths, Physics, Engineering, Computer Programming or an environmental-related degree, you will also have a minimum A Level qualification (or equivalent) in Maths or Chemistry and will be:
