American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level IV trauma teaching hospital in Arizona, requiring 3 years of experience and a full suite of emergency certifications.
Requirements- Active, unrestricted Arizona RN license or a valid, participating compact RN license required
- Minimum 3 years of ED RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
- Preferred certifications: TNCC, ATCN, NRP, and CPI
- Proficiency in triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, arterial line management, and blood product administration
- Experience managing ventilated patients, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and procedural sedation
- Comfort with emergency medications including vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, and IV paralytics
- Experience with psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, suicidal patients, and managing violent behavior
- Pediatric emergency experience required
- Must be comfortable floating without restrictions
- Work setting is a short-term acute care hospital with a combined adult/pediatric emergency department
- Facility is a Level IV trauma center and teaching hospital
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend is required
- Traveler may be asked to float to a freestanding Sedona ED location, approximately a 20-minute drive away
- Charting system is Cerner (experience preferred)
- 13-week contract
- First-time travelers are accepted, though the unit prefers seasoned travelers
- Candidate must be available to work 2 of the following holidays:
New Year's Day, Memorial Day Weekend, Independence Day Weekend, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day - No RTO permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation; all additional RTO requires unit manager approval
- Previous Northern Arizona Healthcare permanent, PRN, or EP staff must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
- Travelers who previously canceled a NAH contract within 10 days of the scheduled start date are ineligible
- Scrub color:
Navy Blue - Free parking is available on-site
- Orientation modules are completed during the first week and average approximately 6 hours
- Two professional references are required prior to start: one from the most recent employer within 1 year, and a second completed within 2 years
- Local candidates are accepted
- Travel pairs are not accepted on the ER unit
