Entry Level Estimator – Council Bluffs, IA

• Review bid documents, plans, specifications, and project scope to assess project requirements.
• Perform detailed quantity take‑offs for various project elements using industry standard software.
• Assist in the development of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs using HCSS Heavy Bid software.
• Collaborate with estimating team members to brainstorm and develop cost‑effective solutions to project challenges.
• Assist in the preparation of CPM project schedules.
• Conduct project site visits to gather necessary data, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs.
• Develop CAD drawings depicting construction methodology concepts.
• Stay updated on industry trends, construction costs, and emerging technologies.
• Achieve or exceed budget utilization targets.
• Comply with all KCI policies and procedures, including ISO standards.

• 0–2 years of experience within the heavy civil industry (preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent public‑speaking, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to think critically.

• Previous internships or work experience in heavy civil construction.
• Working knowledge of cost estimating software (HCSS Heavy Bid or similar).
• Working knowledge of quantity take‑off software (Bluebeam Revu or similar).
• Working knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software.
• AutoCAD or Micro Station experience.
