Master Educator License with the Special Education Consultant Endorsement or Professional Administrator License with PK‑12 Principal/PK‑12 Supervisor or a Professional Service License or a Statement of Professional Recognition with Iowa Board of Education Examiners.
Requires demonstrated understanding of current Iowa special education law and special education compliance requirements along with a keen ability to articulate and promote best instructional and programming practices for students with IEPs to meet their goals in an MTSS model.
General SummaryThis role holds primary responsibility for the quality, coherence, and measurable impact of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) within the zone. The Coordinator advances high‑quality teaching, learning, and SDI across the assigned zone and supports agency initiatives. The Coordinator collaborates with teams and administrators to ensure strong instructional systems, coherent support, and consistent implementation of evidence‑based, high‑quality instruction.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities Core Student Outcomes Coordinator Responsibilities (Agency‑Wide Expectations)- Serve as the zone’s system reference point for SDI and student outcomes, ensuring alignment between district practice, agency expectations, and state requirements.
- Monitor the percentage of students demonstrating growth across three or more consecutive data points and lead intervention when progress stalls.
- Promote a positive mindset and build strong relationships within the team, across disciplines, and with district administrators.
- Model service‑centered leadership, aligning actions to GHAEA’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Provide zone‑level instructional leadership and serve as a primary point of contact for student outcomes work, while working with other Coordinators, the Specialized Cadre, and supervisors to ensure consistency across the agency.
- Support implementation of Logic Model Outcomes, ensuring alignment between SPED instruction and agency goals.
- Plan and co‑facilitate PLCs/PLTs to integrate Logic Model Outcomes and strengthen team‑wide evidence‑based instructional practices.
- Strengthen individual and team capacity through coaching, modeling, and support for high‑quality, evidence‑based instructional practices.
- Collect and examine implementation data to guide instructional decision‑making.
- Collaborate across disciplines (behavior, literacy, math, mental health, technology, etc.) to design integrated supports.
- Support agency‑wide program analysis efforts.
- Participate in state and agency meetings as requested.
- Contribute to staff recruitment, retention, onboarding, and training.
- Serve on interview teams as appropriate.
- Assist with budget/materials planning for instructional initiatives.
- Work collaboratively and closely with our people in the field.
- Complete and/or support summer Child Find activities based on zone or agency, if needed.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Ability to travel to districts and schools within the AEA and occasionally to locations within the state or nation for meetings and conferences relevant to the position. Regular attendance is required. Normal routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking and may also involve above‑average levels of activity at times that can’t always be anticipated.
