Assistant Director Of Campus Life
The Assistant Director of Campus Life is responsible for providing leadership and direction for a comprehensive student involvement program that is focused on engaging students with the campus community. This involves working closely with a variety of campus entities, including Residence Life, the Dr. John and Jean Marshall Wellness Center, Athletics, faculty, service learning, and food service. This position requires the ability to communicate consistently and efficiently with on and off campus services to ensure that event planning and facilitation are done well.
Event facilitation will be done primarily through this position, which will result in some later work hours throughout the semester.
- Develops, plans, organizes, promotes, and facilitates high-quality inclusive, social, educational, and cultural programs and events that generate campus spirit and engage students with the campus community.
- Promotes a wide variety of student-based campus activities and events, including theater productions, band and choir concerts, and athletic events.
- Works late hours to accommodate late night programming on campus.
- Assists with the development and implementation of initiatives to encourage student participation in activities and events campus wide.
- Develops content for the Student Activities website, social media sites, campus information monitors, and print marketing materials.
- Works with recognized student clubs and organizations, including student government, to help them get established, recruit members, plan events, and host regular meetings.
- Maintain viable working relationships and communication within the Student Life department and with other college departments and personnel to carry out, with positive results, the mission of the division and the college.
- Ensure continuous quality improvement in all programs and services not only through analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data but also through research and review of best practices; establish and assess measurable student learning outcomes, program goals, and objectives; maintain statistical reports, surveys, and other records to assess accomplishments, outcomes, and departmental needs; compile and analyze data related to student participation and program evaluation.
- Oversees hiring and managing of student employee staff within Campus Life.
- Approves student employee/ part time timecard approval.
- Oversees the Veteran's Center Assistant position and lounge space.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Ability to pass a background check, have a valid U.S. driver's license and good driving record.
Education:
Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:
Required:
Experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and ability backgrounds of community college students. Experience that illustrates a history of successfully collaborating with co-workers on a regular basis to achieve common goals. Preferred:
Experience planning and facilitating student activities, and events. Supervisory experience.
- The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs
