Position: Departmenet Lead- 12 hr days

Position Overview

The Department Zone Lead plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the production activities within a specific zone or area of the manufacturing facility. They are responsible for ensuring that production targets are met efficiently, while maintaining high-quality standards and a safe working environment. Being a Department Zone Lead requires a balance of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to safety and quality.

The role is crucial for the smooth functioning of the manufacturing process and the achievement of production goals.

HOURS: 6:30 am - 7:00 pm | Rotating 12‑hour shift

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinate and prioritize production activities within the designated zone.
  • Ensure that production schedules are adhered to and that products are manufactured according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other department leads to optimize overall production flow.
  • Lead a team of production workers and operators within the zone.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to enhance their skills and productivity.
  • Encourage a positive and cooperative working atmosphere to foster team cohesion and morale.
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure products meet the required quality standards.
  • Perform required quality control testing, recording, and charting procedures, ensuring that nonconforming product is handled according to company policy and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any quality issues or non‑compliance.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the zone, ensuring all employees follow safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards promptly to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Oversee the proper functioning and maintenance of machinery and equipment in the zone. Coordinate with the maintenance department for repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to optimize production processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of production activities, quality reports, and inventory levels.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on production performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) to management.
  • Participate in training programs to stay updated on manufacturing techniques, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Share knowledge and skills with team members to enhance their professional development.
  • Adhere to established company values practices, policies, and procedures at all times. Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Accurately multiply, divide, add, and subtract whole numbers to resolve practical problems.
  • Operate a computer proficiency; use spreadsheets and reporting software effectively.
  • Wear/use required PPE (personal protective equipment).
  • Understand written instruction and complete appropriate documentation as directed.
  • Use a logical approach to troubleshooting issues and prioritizing production needs.
  • Recognize problems when they occur and to work toward the solution of those problems.
  • Pay attention to details and pursue quality in accomplishing work duties and tasks. Look for opportunities to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.
