Job Summary
Location:
Jennie Edmundson Hospital, 933 E Pierce Street, Council Bluffs IA.
Schedule:
Rotating schedule 40 hours per week. Weekends, holidays and on call as needed.
Duties:
Provide health assessment and improve or manage general medical care of patients. CRNAs will cover the hospital and surgery center (Fremont CRNAs will cover the surgery center) with a primary case mix including urology, GI endoscopy, ortho, ophthalmology, general surgery and ob/gyn.
- Provide health assessment and management of general medical care for patients.
- Cover hospital and surgery center duties, including the primary case mix of urology, GI endoscopy, orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery and obstetrics/gynecology.
- Adhere to rotating schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on call as needed.
- Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required;
Master’s in Nurse Anesthesia required. - Experience:
Experience in area of practice preferred. - License/Certification:
Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license or temporary permit while awaiting licensure; APRN‑Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (APRN.CRNA.NE) or ARNP‑Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (ARNP.CRNA.IA) required. - Certifications:
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire;
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required;
American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. - Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families and hospital personnel; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; critical thinking to manage problems, determine best course of action and effect change; knowledge of healthcare delivery, electronic patient records and quality/safety protocols.

Medium work—exerting up to 50 pounds of force. - Physical Activity:
Occasional—climbing, crawling, kneeling, sitting;
Frequent—balancing, carrying, crouching, distinguishing colors, keyboarding/typing, lifting, pulling/pushing, repetitive motions, stooping/bending, twisting;

- Electrical Shock/Static rare (1‑33%).
- Radiation:
Alpha, Beta and Gamma (e.g., X‑ray, CAT scan, Gamma knife); non‑ionizing (ultraviolet, visible light, infrared, microwaves). - Physical hazards: noise, temperature, lighting, wet floors, outdoors, sharps.
- Equipment/Machinery/Tools:
Explosives (pressurized gas). Chemical agents: toxic, corrosive, flammable, latex; biological agents (air‑borne and blood‑borne viruses). - Mechanical moving parts and vibrations.
