Registered Nurse (RN) | Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum
Location: Council Bluffs, IA
Pay: $70 to $76 per hour
Shift: Nights – 3 days × 12 hours, 36 hours per week
Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 03-16-2026, End: 06-15-2026)
Responsibilities- Provide high‑quality labor, delivery, and postpartum care for low‑risk maternal patients
- Manage deliveries and support patients through labor with skill and compassion
- Perform neonatal resuscitation (NRP) when required and support newborn stabilization
- Administer and titrate drips such as insulin, magnesium sulfate and Pitocin using Alaris IV pumps
- Document patient care thoroughly and accurately in EPIC
- Maintain appropriate patient ratios (typically 1:3 mom‑baby couplets; 1:1 for active labors) and elevate concerns as needed
- Collaborate with charge nurses and the interdisciplinary team to ensure smooth, safe patient flow
- Educate patients and families on postpartum care and newborn needs
- Adhere to facility policies and maintain infection‑control standards
- Active RN license eligible for Iowa practice
- BLS (AHA) required
- NRP required
- Driver’s license required at time of submission (used to verify 50‑mile radius eligibility)
- Minimum ~2 years of relevant experience preferred (Labor & Delivery, postpartum)
- Comfortable managing low‑risk maternal cases with occasional mag, GDM and insulin drips
- Experience with Alaris IV pumps and EPIC charting preferred
- NICU experience is a plus but not required
- Willingness to work every 3rd weekend and complete facility orientation exam (90% pass threshold)
- Active RN license (ADN or BSN). BSN not required for submission.
- Labor, delivery and postpartum clinical skills
- Neonatal resuscitation (NRP) competency
- IV pump operation (Alaris) and drip management
- EPIC electronic charting proficiency
- Ability to manage insulin, magnesium sulfate and Pitocin drips safely
- Strong clinical judgment, triage and patient‑assessment skills
- Clear communication and teamwork in fast‑paced acute care
- Flexibility with blocked scheduling and night‑shift rhythms
