Work Shift:

M-F 8a-4:30p. Casual/PRN employees work on an ‘as needed’ basis to meet the needs of the business. Work days/hours will often vary from week to week.

Responsibilities
  • Provides quality of care and safety to patients and employees.
  • Perform primary health care for patients by utilizing assessment and diagnosis processes.
  • Obtain patient medical and history information; data collection prioritized by immediate condition or needs.
  • Perform physical examinations and assess patient mental status.
  • Develop and implement treatment, follow-up and evaluation plans for patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other disciplines and provide regular feedback.
  • Use appropriate assessment techniques and diagnostic information; perform tests and record findings; order ancillary tests.
  • Derive diagnoses from assessment data and diagnostic information as data becomes available; update treatment plans accordingly.
  • Perform telephone triage to determine patient condition and schedule appointments when needed.
  • Incorporate research into clinical practice as appropriate; implement interventions per the plan of care.
  • Administer medications and immunizations with physician oversight where applicable; prescribe medications per applicable certification.
  • Generate referrals to appropriate services as needed to progress care.
  • Evaluate patient care and response to interventions; assess patient capabilities related to interventions.
  • Provide patient and family teaching and education; ensure understanding and follow-up questions.
  • Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work environment; communicate effectively with physicians, staff and patients.
  • Participate in meetings, research on special projects and professional organizations; comply with bylaws and organizational policies.
  • Maintain certifications/licensure and follow regulatory guidelines; maintain complete patient records and document plans of care and interventions.
  • Participate in performance improvement and outcome management; collaborate with medical director for chart reviews as required.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP).
  • Experience: For Cardiothoracic Surgery: minimum of three years in a related clinical area preferred;
    For Wound Care: two years of clinical experience required; wound care experience preferred.
  • License/

    Certifications:

    Current valid RN license (compact multi-state or temporary permit as applicable); current NP licensure for work state; current Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire and required within 3 months;
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Leadership, problem-solving and medical judgment; ability to manage multiple tasks; effective communication with physicians, staff and patients.
  • Physical Requirements: Medium work with various activity demands as described in the original job content.
