ICU Nurse, Emergency Medicine
Job Description:
Join an ICU team in Council Bluffs, Iowa for a travel healthcare contract built around fast-paced, critical care ICU work. This 12-hour night assignment runs 7 nights per week on a rotating cadence, with every third weekend required. You’ll work a Medical ICU setting handling conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, and MI, and you’ll commonly manage ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and high‑flow equipment while supporting stabilization workflows that may include preparing patients for transfer when appropriate.
This role also emphasizes titratable infusions and ICU workflow readiness. Expect to titrate and/or set rate drips including vasopressors and sedation (e.g., levo, neo, cardene, precedex, propofol, etc.). ICU staffing includes a charge nurse each shift who takes assignments, and hospitalist coverage is in place 24/7, with intensivists in during day hours and available via telemedicine during night hours. One ICU orientation shift plus one PCU orientation shift is provided, and orientation includes a pass/fail exam with an open-book skills-focused component—results require a 90% to pass or termination.
Friendly but serious: your nights move quickly, and your attention to detail matters—especially when verifying monitor strips and ensuring safe infusion titration.
