Job Summary
Location:
Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, 933
E. Pierce St., Council Bluffs, IA.
Work schedule:
Monday‑Friday 7:30a.m.–4p.m.; casual/PRN coverage.
Accounts for quality care delivery to patients and families according to individualized needs.
- Provide appropriate care specific to patient age, ensuring understanding and comfort with treatment.
- Perform initial and ongoing assessment to determine patient needs; include significant others as appropriate.
- Prioritize data collection, develop individualized plan of care for optimum outcomes.
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team; provide teaching and counseling to patients, families, caregivers.
- Implement interventions consistent with established plan of care; follow nursing protocols and standards.
- Maintain professional behavior, communication, and appearance; participate in meetings and committees.
- Complete risk reports and communicate unresolved issues to appropriate personnel.
- Work within scope of practice as defined by Nurse Practice Act; act fiscally responsible for resources.
- Coordinate weekly clinic: schedule patients and physicians, gather patient info, update EMR, arrange ancillary testing and procedures.
- Administer psychosocial distress screening; refer patients to supportive services and cancer programs.
- Provide pre‑operative education and guide patients/families in decision‑making.
- Participate in cancer treatment planning conferences; record and communicate treatment plans.
- Facilitate education on cancer prevention, screening, clinical trials; assist in survivorship plan development.
- Promote safety and quality: monitor safety goals, complete variance reports, report risk issues, partake in quality improvement and accreditation preparations.
- Promote cancer services in community through outreach events.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. - Experience:
Minimum 2years nursing experience; previous ambulatory coordination experience required. - Licensing/
Certifications:
Valid RN license, compact multistate license or temporary permit; BLS required within 3months; ACLS within 3months. - Skills/Knowledge:
Strong interpersonal, multi‑tasking, prioritizing, computer literacy, critical thinking, problem solving. - Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50pounds, frequent bending, standing, walking.
