Schedule:

rotating weekends and holidays, 36 hrs. total per week, 7p–7:30a
Scope:
Registered Nurse in an ER/Critical Care setting – 2 years of experience required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide appropriate care for the age and population of the patient, ensuring understanding and comfort. Demonstrate individualized customer service based on patient needs and culture.
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessment to determine nursing care needs, using patient information and prioritizing data collection. Use assessment findings for discharge planning.
  • Develop, review, and revise individualized plans of care to address nursing needs and optimize outcomes. Collaborate with physicians and other disciplines; provide education on the patient’s health problem.
  • Implement interventions consistent with the established plan. Follow nursing protocols, stay current with nursing practice, administer medication accurately, and use critical thinking regarding medication effects.
  • Evaluate patient response to interventions and document outcomes. Assess patient or family capabilities to manage care after dismissal. Provide complete verbal or written shift reports, including SBAR content.
  • Perform technical skills competently and independently, maintain competence, and charge supplies accurately. Follow procedures for equipment use, cleaning, and disposal.
  • Maintain professional behavior and participate in meetings, committees, and performance improvement activities.
  • Initiate actions to correct, prevent, or minimize risk to patients, families, or staff. Complete appropriate incident or patient concern reports. Work within the scope of practice and follow infection control guidelines.
  • Review, delegate, and evaluate plans for appropriate staff utilization. Ensure tasks are performed by the right person, with the right communication and feedback, in accordance with state and professional standards.
  • Qualifications
    • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred;
      Graduate of an accredited nursing school required.
    • Experience: No prior experience required; 2 years in an ER/Critical Care setting required.
    • Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license (half‑time, compact, or temporary permit). American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS preferred at hire and required within 3 months. ACLS required within 6 months; PALS required within 6 months; TNCC required within 1 year. Core specialty certification from NCC desired within 1 year.
    • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff, prioritization, multi‑tasking, and computer proficiency.
    • Physical Requirements: Medium weight demands (up to 50lb). Tasks include climbing, kneeling, carrying, steadiness, and use of ergonomic equipment.
    • Hazards: Exposure to sharps, hazardous drugs, infectious materials, and environmental hazards such as noise and temperature variations.
