Position: Registered Nurse - Critical Care - Full Time - Days

Job Summary

Location:

Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, 933 E Pierce St, Council Bluffs, IA.

Work Schedule:

7am to 7pm with every third weekend (36 hrs). Accountable for the delivery of quality care to patients and families according to individualized needs.

Responsibilities

Provides appropriate care specific to age and population of patient, ensuring understanding of treatment.

Performs initial and ongoing assessment to determine patient nursing care needs.

Develops, reviews, revises, and individualizes plan of care.

Implements interventions consistent with established plan of care.

Evaluates patient care response and documents outcomes.

Performs technical skills competently and independently.

Maintains professional behavior and participates in meetings and improvement activities.

Initiates action to correct, prevent, or minimize risk.

Reviews, delegates, and evaluates staff plans for utilization.

Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; graduate of an accredited nursing school required.

Experience: No experience necessary.

Licensure & Certifications

Valid RN license or compact multistate license.
American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 3 months of hire.
National Certification related to specialty within 1 year.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within one year; ACLS preferred.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to multitask, computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements

Medium weight demands; up to 50 lbs. Frequent activities include balancing, carrying, typing, and other routine motions.

Job Hazards & Equipment

Hazards include exposure to radiation, hazardous drugs, sharps, and other common clinical risks. Must follow all safety protocols and use protective equipment as required.
