Job Description:

The RN in the Stepdown unit will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients with common diagnoses such as heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke. The nurse will be required to titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro, and must also be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care in the Stepdown unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4.
• Titrate and manage titratable drips and CPAP equipment.
• Participate in cyclic scheduling and meet weekend and holiday requirements.
• Float to ICU if appropriate based on experience.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid RN license and meet a 50 mile radius rule.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Pass an open book exam on their orientation to the facility and skills learned, requiring a 90% pass mark.
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.
