Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Council Bluffs, IA

Contract | Night Shift | Onsite |

Shifts:

6:30 AM–7:00 PM / 6:30 PM–7:00 AM | Cyclic Scheduling | Every Other Weekend Required | 1 Major and 1 Minor Holiday Required

• Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced 22-bed Stepdown/PCU unit managing common diagnoses including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin per protocol
• Read and independently interpret telemetry strips throughout each shift
• Monitor and troubleshoot CPAP equipment as needed
• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, collaborating with patient care techs (1:10 ratio) to deliver comprehensive care
• Float to ICU when appropriate based on unit need and candidate experience

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Ability to pass a department-specific open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required as a condition of the contract

• Prior experience in a Stepdown, PCU, or IMC setting
• ICU experience or background suitable for occasional float coverage
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-volume environment with frequent admissions and discharges
