Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown

Council Bluffs, IA

Contract | Night Shift | Onsite |

Shifts:

6:30 AM–7:00 PM / 6:30 PM–7:00 AM | Cyclic Scheduling | Every Other Weekend Required | 1 Major and 1 Minor Holiday Required

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced stepdown unit managing common diagnoses including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin per physician orders and unit protocols
• Read and independently interpret telemetry strips throughout each shift
• Monitor and troubleshoot CPAP equipment as needed for assigned patients
• Manage a patient assignment of up to 4 patients with support from patient care techs
• Float to ICU when appropriate based on unit need and relevant experience

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently
• Experience titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips
• Must successfully pass a department orientation skills exam with a score of 90% or higher
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas

• Prior experience in a stepdown, PCU, or IMC setting
• ICU experience or comfort floating to an ICU environment
• Familiarity with high-acuity cardiac and respiratory patient populations
