Trans Force is seeking a Technician to support operations in Council Bluffs, IA. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced technicians or mechanically inclined individuals looking to build a long-term career in intermodal equipment maintenance and repair.
No intermodal experience? No problem. We provide paid training for candidates with experience in automotive repair, diesel mechanics, industrial maintenance, electrical work, welding, HVAC, construction equipment repair, and other hands-on technical trades.

Role Summary
Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair intermodal chassis, refrigerated containers (reefers), and diesel generator sets (gensets). Safely move equipment throughout the yard while ensuring compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections (including FMCSA annual and PTI inspections), and repairs on intermodal chassis, reefers, and gensets
Diagnose and repair brake, suspension, wheel-end, electrical, lighting, structural, refrigeration, diesel engine, and control system issues
Repair or replace components including brakes, tires, bearings, compressors, controllers, sensors, motors, wiring, fans, doors, seals, and frame components
Complete welding, light fabrication, and structural repairs as needed
Operate yard spotter trucks, mobile service trucks, and forklifts to move equipment and perform field repairs
Complete work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation
Maintain a clean, safe work area while following all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and company safety requirements
Work Environment
Maintenance shop, container yard, and outdoor work environment
Exposure to moving equipment, fuels, oils, diesel engines, and mechanical hazards
Moderate to loud noise levels
Who Should Apply?
We are willing to train candidates who possess strong troubleshooting abilities and hands-on repair experience. Candidates from the following backgrounds are encouraged to apply:
Automotive technicians
Diesel mechanics
Industrial maintenance technicians
Electricians
HVAC technicians
Welders and fabricators
Heavy equipment mechanics
Military veterans with mechanical or technical experience
Anyone with strong mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn
Preferred Experience
Trailer, chassis, or refrigerated container (reefer) repair experience
Diesel engine or generator (genset) maintenance experience
Familiarity with Carrier, Thermo King, CAT, or Cummins equipment
Experience using diagnostic software and tools
Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
Certifications & Credentials (Preferred, Not Required)
EPA 608 Certification (Universal or Type II)
ASE Heavy Truck and/or Trailer Certification
CDL (or willingness to obtain one)
Schedule & Pay
Schedule:
Monday–Friday (occasional Saturdays as needed)
Start Time: 8:00 AM
Shift Length: 8-12 hours depending on workload
Pay Range:
Experienced Technicians: $30–$35/hour (based on experience)
Entry-Level / Trainable Candidates: $22–$23/hour
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred)
Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
Ability to learn new systems and repair techniques
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required)
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
