Field Technical Support Specialist — Truck-Mounted Cranes & Liftgates

Imagine starting your day in Council Bluffs, IA, opening your queue of service cases from dealers and distribution partners across North America. A liftgate won’t cycle, a service crane shows an electrical fault, and a compressor installation needs guidance. You triage the issues, guide the technician through hydraulic and electrical checks, update a service bulletin, then huddle with Engineering and Spare Parts to align on a product improvement.

By afternoon, you’re leading a quick virtual training for a new distributor on installation best practices. That’s a typical day for our Field Technical Support Specialist.

Role Overview In this Council Bluffs–based role reporting to the Service Manager, you serve as a trusted technical resource for PALFINGER Service Cranes, Crane Bodies, Compressors, Liftgates, and related equipment. Your work fuels customer satisfaction, product performance, and operational excellence across North America.

What You’ll Handle Act as the go-to contact for internal and external service inquiries, providing exceptional support by phone and email.

Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems; guide dealers, service centers, and distribution partners on service and installation procedures.

Author, maintain, and improve service documentation, technical publications, bulletins, and online knowledge resources.

Partner closely with Engineering, Service, and Spare Parts to influence new product development, enhancements, and ongoing service initiatives.

Deliver training on installation, operation, maintenance, and service best practices; assist with parts and service request workflows.

What You Bring High school diploma required; an Associate degree in a technical or business field is preferred.
3–5 years of customer service experience within manufacturing, industrial, or technical support environments.

Hands-on know‑how with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems used in complex equipment.

Ability to interpret technical specifications, schematics, diagrams, and installation manuals.

Comfort with Microsoft Office and CRM-based support tools; willingness to travel within North America. Fluency in German, Spanish, or French is a plus.
