1st Five Developmental Support Specialist
Firefly | Serving Western Iowa At Firefly , we know that the first five years of a child’s life can change everything. That’s why we’re looking for a compassionate, energetic professional to join our 1st Five Healthy Mental Development Initiative and help children and families get the support they need to thrive.

What You’ll Do As a 1st Five Developmental Support Specialist, you’ll make a real difference by:

  • Partnering with families to support healthy child development.
  • Building relationships with healthcare providers and community partners.
  • Empowering parents with education, guidance, and support.
  • Build trusting relationships with families while serving as a guide and advocate throughout their child’s developmental journey.
  • Conduct developmental screenings and developmental monitoring.
  • Connect families with medical, dental, behavioral health, and community resources.
  • Coordinate referrals and help families overcome barriers to accessing care, including scheduling appointments, transportation, and identifying payment resources.
  • Provide education and anticipatory guidance that promotes healthy child development.
  • Assist with quality assurance activities, chart audits, and documentation.
  • Maintain timely, accurate records while meeting agency and grant reporting requirements.
  • Represent Firefly professionally through community outreach and partnerships

What You Bring We’re looking for someone who is caring, organized, and passionate about helping others.

Qualifications Include

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health or human services field, RN or LPN
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout our six-county service area
  • Spanish-speaking candidates are encouraged to apply!
