Long Term Substitute 7 Hr/Day Building Paraprofessional

Coventry Public Schools is seeking to hire a long term substitute 7 hr/day building paraprofessional. Must hold a teacher assistant certification and have passed a praxis exam or have a teacher assistant certification and associates or at least an associates degree in education. This is a union contracted 180 day position with compensation according to contract.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience working in a comparable position preferred.
• Certified in crisis prevention intervention (CPI); if successful applicant is not currently CPI certified, training will be provided.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience with children who have emotional behavioral concerns preferred.
• Experience with de-escalation preferred.
• Ability to assist in transitioning students into the general education setting.
• Ability to collect and monitor data as part of a behavior plan.
• Ability to work with a diverse team of teachers.
• Ability to work in an environment with children who may have emotional and physical outbursts.
