Clinical Care Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional patient care in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other physicians to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures.
- Implement accurate, safe, patient‑centric anesthetic care.
- Understand physiologic implications and anesthetic considerations of surgical procedures, constantly monitor vital signs, capnography, and pulse oximetry during anesthesia according to ASA guidelines.
- Ensure appropriate documentation within the accordance of hospital and regulatory requirements and protect information of all forms (computer‑based, paper, film, voice, or other media) from unauthorized access, modification, destruction, or disclosure.
- Demonstrate a high standard of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
- Continuously engage in projects that maintain and advance professional competency.

- Completion of Certified Nurse Anesthetist Training Program and graduation from a Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (CANA).
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) certification.
- AANA Certification.
- State of Connecticut RN and APRN license.
- ACLS certification.
- DEA registration and State of Connecticut Controlled Substance registration.
Current State of Connecticut Nursing License, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the State of Connecticut. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs and CNMs are required to be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS Hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process. Evidence of current competence to practice as an APRN, PA, CRNA or CNM must be obtainable during the Medical Staff appointment process.
Communication& Technical Skills
- Communicate clearly and effectively with surgeons, the surgical support team, patients and their families.
- Demonstrate intellectual‑conceptual, integrative and quantitative abilities; detect and interpret changes in monitoring alarms and equipment.
- Observe a patient accurately at a distance and close.
- Speak, hear, read and write effectively.
- Maintain sufficient motor function to elicit pertinent information and move self/patients between anesthesia locations.
- Possess emotional health required for full utilization of intellectual abilities, exercise good judgment, complete responsibilities promptly, tolerate physically taxing workloads, function effectively under stress, adapt to changing environments, display flexibility and learn to function under uncertainty.
