The Manager of the RNA Core Facility will be instrumental in establishing this core to provide long-read sequencing for identifying new RNA species and mapping RNA modifications both globally and at single-molecule level in sequence context. This central function will include specialized adaptations of sequence based genomic methods such as nascent RNA seq. The RNA core will function as a pass-through service provider with the Manager facilitating sample and data transfer to other COBRE funded cores  this capacity, the RNA Facility Core Manager will implement RNA biology protocols as a “front-end” to services provide by other cores. For example the RNA core will:
1) Identifying RBP occupancy and binding specificity with methods such as RNA immunoprecipitation followed by proteomics for RNA binding protein identification conducted by the Proteomics core,
2) RNA visualization with methods such as RNA FISH probe generation followed by imaging at the Imaging core,
3) RNA functional genomics with methods such as massively parallel reporter assays (MPRAs) followed by sequencing at the Genomics core,
4) experimental design for RNA biophysical and structural analysis in the Structural Biology Core, and
5) facilitating data transfer to the Computational Biology Core.
