Manufacturing & Industrial Operations, Production Manager
Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client, an established aerospace precision manufacturer that has machined flight-critical components for commercial and defense aircraft for decades. It is a captive machine shop that designs and builds its own proprietary products, running high-mix, low-volume work to tight aerospace tolerances under AS9100.
Who We’re Looking For- Planners who want to own the master schedule, build it from forecasts and backlog, and defend the dates
- People who spend real time on the floor with machinists, not planners who live in a spreadsheet
- Operators who like high-mix, low-volume work where priorities shift through the day and re-sequencing is constant
If you only want to transact work orders in an ERP from a desk, or you prefer long repetitive production runs, this is not your seat.
You report to the Operations Manager and own production planning for the shop end to end. You build and publish the master schedule in Epicor from customer forecasts, order backlog, and safety stock, release and follow up on work orders, and keep due dates honest as conditions change. You run the daily production stand-up (Gemba), keep the boards and job cards current, and call out shortages and priority shifts.
Key Responsibilities- Build, publish, and maintain the master schedule in Epicor across all work centers
- Release shop work orders and set required material quantities against backlog demand
- Create work center schedules and dispatch lists, review capacity, and balance workload
- Expedite orders that fall behind and de-expedite on push-outs, re-sequencing as conditions change
- Lead daily Gemba in the production departments and keep boards and job cards current
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to understand what is moving through the shop
- Coordinate across production, quality, purchasing, and shipping to hold on-time delivery
This is a floor-facing planning seat, not a desk job. Expect to spend a large part of every day out in the shop with machinists, chasing parts and clearing bottlenecks in a high-mix environment where the plan changes through the day.
Qualifications- 5+ years of production planning or master scheduling in a manufacturing environment (machine shop preferred)
- Hands-on experience owning a production schedule, not only executing one set by someone else
- Strong ERP experience for scheduling and work-order management (Epicor a plus; SAP, Infor, JobBOSS, or similar all count)
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Comfortable spending the majority of the day on the production floor
- Aerospace or other regulated manufacturing background (AS9100, NADCAP, or aerospace configuration management)
- Experience in a high-mix, low-volume shop
- APICS, Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM), or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
