The Brittain Electric team is seeking a Safety Manager with experience in industrial or specialty electrical contracting. This position is routinely responsible for setting standards of professionalism and setting the tone for safety. On a daily basis this role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and productive work environments, and working with all field and management staff to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with company, client-specific, federal, state, local, and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the company's safety programs across projects and locations within the Southeast region.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections, audits, and observations to identify hazards, verify compliance, and drive corrective actions.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field employees on safe work practices, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, state, local, and customer safety requirements, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans for injuries, near misses, property damage, and environmental events.
  • Monitor project safety performance using leading and lagging indicators, analyze trends, and recommend improvements to reduce risk and improve performance.
  • Support project teams during preconstruction planning by identifying safety risks, developing project-specific safety plans, and participating in constructability reviews.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), lift plans, and other project safety documentation to ensure appropriate controls are in place.
  • Conduct and facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, orientation sessions, and specialized safety training for employees and subcontractors.
  • Partner with field leadership to ensure high-risk work activities - including energized electrical work, lockout/tagout, fall protection, confined space entry, excavation, crane and rigging operations, and mobile equipment activities - are properly planned and executed.
  • Participate in customer meetings, safety audits, owner inspections, and regulatory inspections while representing the company in a professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, investigations, corrective actions, training records, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure subcontractors meet contractual and company safety expectations.
  • Assist with workers' compensation case management, return-to-work efforts, and coordination with insurance carriers and third-party administrators, as needed.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Training, and Operations to develop safety training programs, onboarding content, and ongoing competency development.
  • Support emergency response planning, crisis management activities, and business continuity efforts.
  • Stay current on changes to OSHA regulations, industry best practices, customer requirements, and emerging safety technologies.
  • Travel regularly to project sites throughout Georgia and other locations as business needs require.
Requirements
  • 7-10 years of related experience.
  • Experience supporting projects involving energized electrical work, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, fall protection, crane operations, and other high-risk construction activities is required.
  • Mission critical or data center construction, and critical infrastructure experience a plus.
  • B.S. degree in an Environmental, Health or Safety discipline, preferred but not required.
