Summary
The Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in the early childhood classroom in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This teacher assistant helps with classroom activities, supervision, lesson implementation, bulletin boards, and maintaining a positive, engaging atmosphere for all students. At Peachtree Prep, we hire only the most qualified teachers who are passionate about working with children.
We are looking for individuals who have a history of stability in teaching and who love to see the impact of their good work in the lives of the children in their class. This could be a part-time or full-time position, depending on your schedule and the class needs. We would love to talk to you! Walk in interviews are available on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at our corporate office in Conyers, located at 1801 Ellington Road in Conyers.
Job placements are available at any of our 4 locations which includes 2 schools in Covington and Conyers. We offer the full range of education from early childhood to Private Pre-K-12th grade.
Key Responsibilities For Early Childhood Teacher Assistants Classroom Support & Instruction
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and age-appropriate activities.
- Creativity is a plus because innovative learning means that children need to learn how to think outside of the box!
- Support children’s learning through small-group work, one-on-one instruction, and play-based interactions.
- Reinforce positive behavior guidance techniques and classroom routines.
- Help prepare materials, supplies, and learning centers for instruction.
- Ensure constant supervision and safety of all children, indoors and outdoors.
- Assist with meals, snacks, hand washing, diapering, and toileting, following center policies and hygiene standards.
- Cultivate a warm, responsive, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued.
- Greet families and maintain positive, professional interactions.
- Share observations with the Lead Teacher regarding children’s progress or concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality of child and family information.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom.
- Follow all health, safety, and licensing requirements.
- Participate in classroom setup, transitions, and daily routines.
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and center staff.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.
- Provide support in other classrooms when needed.
- Assist students with special educational needs.
- Tutor students who need extra assistance.
- Supervise school or student activities.
- Enforce rules or policies governing student behavior.
- Monitor student performance.
- Maintain student records.
- Display student work.
- Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products.
- Distribute instructional or library materials.
- Create technology-based learning materials.
- Serve on institutional or departmental committees.
- Develop instructional materials.
- Assist students with special educational needs.
- Supervise school or student activities.
