Role Description

The Practical Nursing Instructor is a full-time, on-site position located in Covington, GA. The instructor is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing classroom, lab, and clinical instruction in accordance with program standards and accreditation requirements. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, teaching practical nursing concepts and skills, supervising learners in clinical settings, and evaluating learner performance and competencies. The role involves maintaining accurate records, participating in curriculum development, collaborating with colleagues and clinical partners, and supporting learner success through advising, mentoring, and remediation.

The instructor also contributes to program improvement, maintains current knowledge of nursing practice and regulations, and upholds GPTC policies and professional standards.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in practical nursing, including current clinical knowledge and the ability to teach nursing fundamentals, patient care, and safety practices.
  • Strong instructional skills, including lesson planning, curriculum implementation, learner assessment, and use of varied teaching strategies in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse learners, colleagues, and clinical partners, including the ability to provide constructive feedback and mentoring.
  • Organizational and time-management abilities to coordinate courses, clinical rotations, documentation, and compliance with program and accreditation requirements.
  • Proficiency with basic educational technology and learning management systems to support instruction, grading, and learner engagement.
  • Current, unencumbered nursing license (RN) in the state of Georgia, with relevant clinical experience in acute, long-term, or community care settings.
  • Minimum of an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing; advanced degree in nursing or education is preferred.
  • Experience teaching or precepting nursing learners or new staff is highly beneficial, along with a commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
