Materials Technician will support the Material Scientist with creation of reports and memos related to the EU MDR Remediation project. The Technician will interact with internal resources and external collaborators to collect technical information, interpret it and tabulate it to support documentation, and assist with material database maintenance. The role ensures data files are secure and organized to be easily retrievable by the technical team and auditors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Support Materials program development for identifying and tracking materials in currently marketed products.
- Provide support to the EU MDR Remediation project team with creation of reports and memos related to materials.
- Interact with internal groups and external collaborators to collect information to support document creation and maintenance of material database.
- Ensure data files are secure and organized to be easily retrievable by auditors and technical team.
- Provide product and materials information summaries required for the materials program.
- Assist with materials evaluations compliant with US and International standards, such as REACH, Prop 65, RoHS, CMR as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- 0–3 years’ experience on an R&D and/or manufacturing team.
- Familiarity with a variety of materials including polymers, elastomers, metals, ceramics, etc., and their manufacturing methods is an advantage.
- Familiarity with US and International standards, such as REACH, Prop 65, RoHS, CMR is an advantage.
- Understanding, interpretation and tabulation of technical information from various sources required.
- Adaptive and flexible interpersonal skills, collaborative nature, and commitment to project completion.
- Exceptional communication and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to multitask and handle tasks with competing priorities effectively.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or government regulations; ability to write protocols, simple reports, and business correspondence.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to perform basic mathematical calculations; working knowledge of statistics desired.
Reasoning AbilityThis position requires good judgment. All product and process development activities within a team are to be carried out according to applicable laws and regulations. When in doubt, the incumbent should source appropriate information via internal and external resources and should be able to analyze data and suggest additional courses of action.
Physical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to sit, walk, talk, or hear. The employee will sometimes be required to move around in a manufacturing facility or meet with medical professionals in a hospital environment. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision. Some lifting up to 10 lbs. may be required.
Work EnvironmentThe employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Operate and maintain equipment and measurement instruments.
