Project Flow
  • You review architectural and structural drawings, clarifying design intent and load paths.
  • In Tekla or SDS2 (and AutoCAD as needed), you model members, apply connections, and validate clearances.
  • You collaborate with structural engineers to confirm or adjust connection designs.
  • You output shop drawings, BOMs, cut lists, and CNC files that the shop can trust.
  • You join BIM coordination and model review sessions to keep everyone aligned.
  • You manage revision control so every stakeholder works from the latest information.
Your Impact Areas
  • Produce accurate shop/fabrication drawings for structural steel components and assemblies.
  • Interpret and reconcile architectural/engineering documents into constructible details.
  • Partner with project managers and fabrication teams to resolve production challenges early.
  • Maintain organized documentation and thorough revision histories across the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure full adherence to AISC standards, OSHA requirements, and project specifications.
What Sets You Up for Success
  • Demonstrated experience in structural steel detailing or an equivalent role.
  • Proficiency with CAD/BIM tools such as Tekla, SDS2, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong grasp of steel design principles, shop fabrication methods, and steel erection sequencing.
  • High accuracy under deadline pressure; methodical and detail‑driven.
  • Excellent communication and a collaborative, solution‑first mindset.
  • Associate’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of structural steel codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience checking the work of other detailers is advantageous.

If elevating connection design and deliverable quality is your craft, bring it to our Covington, GA team and help us build with confidence.
