Industrial Design Co-op - Packaging

Responsibilities

• Lead packing projects for medical device products from Front End Innovation through New Product Development.
• Support packaging design projects involving consumer-facing medical device products.
• Execute packaging activities including concept development, industrial design, prototyping, and materials selection.
• Translate consumer use requirements into packaging concepts with rapid prototype generation for iterative qualitative testing.
• Participate in Human Factors and Voice of Customer sessions.
• Collaborate with Product Development, Industrial Design, Marketing, Operations, Sourcing, and other internal organizations.
• Work with Creative design internally and externally for consumer preferred packaging.
• Develop and deliver prototypes for unboxing and handling scenarios.
• Explore how sales channels influence packaging design while maintaining business cost and sustainability considerations.
• Collaborate with outside suppliers to develop and qualify new packaging components.
• Assist in Naming and Branding teams.
• Develop custom test methods as needed.

• Currently enrolled in BS or BFA in Industrial Design, Packaging Engineering, or related technical field.
• Experience with consumer‑facing packaging and research background bring ideas from FEI to NPD to market.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Solidworks, Keyshot, Blender, and Microsoft Project.
• Understanding of material costs and sustainability concepts.
• Experience in consumer packaged goods and/or medical device is required.

• Project management experience.
• Proficiency in drawing (Solidworks, CAD, Blender, etc.).
• Prototype generation experience.
