The Peer Recovery Coach serves as an essential member of the treatment team in the Women's Opioid Use Disorder (WOUD) Residential Program
, a recovery residence specifically designed for women with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). The Peer Recovery Coach works collaboratively with clinicians, counselors, and other peer coaches to support the empowerment and recovery of women in the program. This position focuses on providing peer support, mentoring, and guidance to help clients navigate their recovery journey from OUD, while fostering an environment of mutual respect, trust, and growth.

The Peer Recovery Coach will work closely with individuals served, as well as co-workers and community partners, to promote long-term recovery goals and help clients overcome challenges related to their substance use. By modeling recovery and sharing personal experiences, the Peer Recovery Coach helps clients understand that sustained recovery is possible. The role emphasizes person-centered care, aligning with the program's focus on trauma-informed, gender-responsive services tailored to the unique needs of women recovering from Opioid Use disorder (OUD).

The Peer Recovery Coach will assist with care coordination, peer coaching, and the orientation of new residents, ensuring that each woman entering the program is welcomed and supported. Additionally, the Peer Recovery Coach will facilitate group sessions and provide shadowing support to other staff. The role also involves tracking and reporting services provided through monthly ADSS billing and assisting with patient flow to ensure the smooth operation of the program.

The Peer Recovery Coach will play a critical role in ensuring timely transitions of care, supporting clients in linking to community resources, and assisting with scheduling and tracking appointments with VPH providers. This position also involves coordinating transportation for clients as needed, ensuring they can attend recovery-related appointments, and fostering a strong support system to empower women on their path to lasting sobriety and wellness.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct orientation sessions with new residents – review rules and guidelines, orient to paperwork, explore linkage needs (i.e. transportation, food stamps, specialty doctor's needs), complete documentation of session in Care Logic.
• Facilitate evidence based educational groups, providing life skills training to support long-term recovery goals. WRAP, Anger Management, Seeking Safety, and Peer-Led Check-ins are ideal for our program.
• Facilitate individuals peer session (ADSS) with clients to promote increased engagement with treatment services and support clients in meeting individualized goals. Provide feedback and support in areas for growth.
• Documents interactions with clients in accordance with agency policy and compliance standards using ECR
• Establishes linkages and coordination of services with community agencies. Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with community service providers. Informs clients and families of the availability of community advocacy and support groups. Provides transportation as needed.
• Advocates on behalf of individuals served and help them to navigate behavioral health systems. In accordance with SAMHSA guiding principles, Peer Specialist will engage and support individuals in the four major types of recovery support services including (1) peer mentoring and coaching, (2) recovery resource connecting, (3) facilitating and leading recovery groups, and (4) building community.
• Utilizes peer support to assist clients in developing recovery capital goals/Personal Recovery Plans and assists clients with locating and utilizing community resources to obtain their recovery capital goals, such as but not limited to legal, medical, financial assistance, and other referral services
