Job Description

Data Center Technician responsibilities include in‑depth hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, and participation in an on‑call rotation.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting all data centers and their servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. We work on the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain.
This is a night shift/overnight role, requiring work between approximately 6 pm and 8 am. Schedule may vary and may be longer than 40 hours per week, depending on site and operational needs.

NOTE:
A lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position.
- Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
- Conduct routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to support overall AWS service availability.
- Serve as a primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Participate in on‑call duties, scheduled maintenance, and change management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help interview, train, and onboard new team members.
- Lift and move materials up to 40 pounds.
- Work in cramped and/or elevated locations.
- Bend, lift, stretch, and reach frequently.
- Stand and walk for up to 8 + hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
- Willingness to work temporarily at alternative sites during training or until the assigned facility is operational.
- Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and facility status.
- Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
- 18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT‑related field (e.g., computer science, network engineering).
- Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).
- Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems.
- Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
- Experience training and onboarding of new team members.

Compensation and BenefitsThe base salary range for this position is USD 30.00‑54.00 per hour. Your package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
