Systems Engineer, IT Support

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Responsibilities- Scaling support of several data center locations and day‑to‑day assistance with capacity management.
- Working closely with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution as directed by Network Leadership and Technical Project Managers.
- Leveraging experience supporting large‑scale, enterprise‑class networks, including network implementation and troubleshooting.
- Providing management and support of AWS’ vast network infrastructure, establishing and following best practices, and refining operational procedures.
- Managing work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
- Troubleshooting networking, routing and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords.
- Specifying power and cooling requirements and ensuring hardware racking/stacking completed for new equipment.
- Participating in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
- Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7, with primary responder rotation and after‑hours support as needed.
- Working in cramped, elevated, or noisy environments.
- Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.
- Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies related to infrastructure (network, data center, hardware, software).
- 2+ years of network cabling, fiber optics, and test equipment experience including VFL, power meter, and OTDR.
- Data center experience and industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).
- Experience with common tools related to network troubleshooting, including VFLs, OTDR and power meters.
- Knowledge of major command‑line protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, GNU/Linux) and common networking protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- 1+ year of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repairing.
Traveling within and outside the regional work area is required. You will be responsible for having a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license to travel within the regional work area; company transportation will not be provided.
This role will be based in Covington, GA, with reporting responsibilities to Lithia Springs, GA and Downtown Atlanta for a minimum of six months.
