Data Center Technician, AWS Opportunity for Military Community

Data Center Technician position involves in‑depth hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, and participation in an on‑call rotation.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
This is a night shift/overnight role requiring working overnight hours between approximately 6 p.m. – 8 a.m. Work schedule may not be a standard 40‑hour work week. Specific days and hours may vary depending on site and schedule needs.

Lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position.
- Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
- Conduct routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to overall availability of AWS services.
- Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help interview, train, and onboard new team members.
- Take ownership of technical issues brought by customers, engage other teams when needed to drive resolution, and maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
- Show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving, and improve effectiveness through process innovation.
- Lifting and moving material up to 40 pounds.
- Working in cramped and/or elevated locations.
- Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.
- Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.
- Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering both night and day shifts).
- Potential travel to established locations for training until the designated site becomes fully operational.
- Work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
- 18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience (including troubleshooting and repair).
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT‑related field (e.g., computer science, network engineering).
- Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).
- Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems.
- Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
- Experience with training and onboarding of new team members.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
